by Jeff Adams

Please join Canyonlands Watershed Council for our fall Education and Action workshops! We are excited to be collaborating with a range of community partners on the following events. All events are free and open to everyone.

1) Saturday 10/22, (10am – 2pm) Site Assessments for Creating Healthy Landscapes,

part of the Bee Inspired Gardens education series. Meets at the Forest Service Building on 100N (next to post office)

During this interactive workshop, we will introduce site assessment processes. Considerations will cover previous topics including: on-site water management, plant selection, pollinator needs and habitat, and site access.

2) Saturday 10/29, (9am – 2pm) Hands-on Permaculture at the Grand County Hospice,

Meet out front of the Moab Regional Hospital

Come help install the new Hospice Garden, learn about permaculture, and meet new friends! An overview of permaculture design concepts and strategies used in the garden will be discussed, followed by hands-on work in the garden. Activities will include proper planting techniques, mulching, and other steps needed to complete the garden. Please bring a refillable water bottle, gloves, close-toed shoes, a sun hat, sun screen, and anything else you need to be comfortable.

3) Sunday 11/6, (8am-12) Permaculture In Action – Creating Spaces to Thrive

A collaboration with the Moab Folk Festival and CommuniTea Garden.

Meet at the CommuniTea Garden, corner of 100N and Walnut

The CommuniTea Garden is a non-profit permaculture inspired gathering space in the heart of Moab. During this hands-on workshop we will be creating spaces for people and pollinators to thrive in our urban setting. Join in the fun of building native bee shelters out of salvaged materials that will be artfully sculpted into a wall, and get your hands dirty helping to build earthen benches around our upcycled urbanite patio. All ages and skills are welcome. Come for morning tea or drop by anytime during the event.
